Broadleaf speedwell "Royal Blue" - Veronica teucrium.
It grows wild in the Caucasus, Western Siberia, Central Asia, Western Europe, and the Mediterranean.
A very attractive, unpretentious perennial with erect stems that forms spectacular, lushly flowering carpets up to 30-40 cm high, which are strewn throughout the summer with numerous, large inflorescences of pale lilac-blue flowers.
Mature plants form dense spherical bushes up to 25 cm tall. During flowering, the height of the plant is about 40-60 cm.
Leaves entire, glabrous above, hairy below. The flowers are bright blue, pinkish or white, collected in dense racemose inflorescences up to 7 cm long.
Blooms from the end of May 40-45 days. Fruiting. In culture since 1596.
At the end of flowering, the shoots lie in different directions from the center, and the inflorescences are on the periphery of the bush, forming a kind of "wreath".
Veronica plants look best when they are in contact with each other.
Winters without shelter (hardiness zones Z4 - Z8).
Grows well in any garden soil. Sun-loving. Moisture-loving, but drought-resistant. Good for planting in mixborders and cutting.
Recommendations for sowing and care: in spring, sow in seedling containers or ridges with loose, water- and breathable soil, avoiding thickening, sprinkling with a thin layer of sand, providing regular watering, loosening and shading from direct sunlight. The grown seedlings should be planted in a permanent place in the evening or in cloudy weather, well spilled and mulched. (1.0g = 4000 seeds).
In the spring, fertilize with a complete mineral fertilizer with trace elements; in the summer, it is advisable to add wood ash.
